With Christ Church Regatta both commencing and finishing on Wednesday, the entire boat club had plenty of time to prepare ourselves for a hard night of celebrating rowing at St. Peter’s. We might not have had the chance to prove to the rest of Oxford just how proficient the St. Peter’s novices have become with an oar during the past few weeks, but I’m confident that the high standards shown by our Christ Church Regatta crews will set SPCBC up well for a successful Torpids 2010.
After a term of early mornings, hard ergs and painful blisters, it was lovely
to see our rowers and coxes swap their lycra and lifejackets for something a little more stylish. In traditional Boat Club style, bottles of wine were pennied, speeches were made, prizes were awarded and songs were sung. Once fed and watered, we were able to dance the night away without worrying about setting the alarm clock for the next day. A special mention must go to Helen Marks from the women’s novice B crew who was the Michaelmas term recipient of the King’s Award for Most Improved Rower.

Thank you to everyone involved with SPCBC for a fantastic night to round off a very promising start to the rowing year!
