The ergs are turning, the starts are finally getting there, someone is dusting off True Blue ready for the race-day-eve ritual screening; the Boat Club is getting ready to do what it does best: putting good crews into Oxford regattas in short order.
If you’re in Oxford (be you student, alumnus or friend), do please come on down to the river to support the crews representing the Club for the first time. Our Boat House is on county bank opposite Boat House island (ask any Boat Club member or email if you’re unsure…). Racing is in the format of an exciting side-by-side duel – hit YouTube or the archive entry for last year for an idea.
Should you happen to bump into a lowly IT Officer whilst thunderously vocalising your support, you might just detect a whistfulness about him… the regatta was among the most exhilarating things I’ve ever done and in my crew of last year number some of my now-closest friends. The experience is, quite simply, not one which I shall ever forget.
Our brave novices have the ernest and heart-felt best wishes of the MA crew from last year.
I’m jealous!
